About RCB

Battaramulla – a village over-run by a city!

As a resident lamented, the hamlet of Battaramulla has grown to accommadate on its borders, the vagaries of the new capital of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayawardanepura or Kotte as it is commonly known. With the parliament of Sri Lanka nestling in the picturesque environs of Kotte, Battaramulla has been acquisitioned by a mass of urban dwellers who have moved into the pristine land mass to claim a measure of kinship with the rulers not so far away.

The Battaramulla Rotarians one may not include in these ranks but they surely complement the populace of this village city and have over almost a decade made a sterling presence in District 3220, if not of the ceremonial capital.

Rotary therefore flies tall in this suburb and if for no other reason, the vision of one man whose passion has produced one of the finest clubs in the Rotary firmanent if records are anything to go by. And chartering this course from the inception, DGE Gehan Siribaddana, has been rightly described as the cornerstone of this club from the day of its charter on the 16 January 2002.

The members meet every Thursday at 7:30 PM at the Royal Colombo Golf Club is a sanctuary situated in the heart of Colombo an exquisite tranquil environment to relax.

Some of its most expressive projects are illustrated below while its District record underlines the service record of its members fondly called by the acronym, ROTABATS!

For years though are focus has been Service without boundaries, we have involved ourselves with extra love to the area we live in i.e. Battaramulla
